| Description | The remote sensing of the area by A. Sarris resulted in massive walls that lay directly above the ground-water level and extend over an area as big as a soccer field. Because of geological sectioning and a borehole survey, the wall was dated Final Neolithic to Early Minoan I. A section in Area G, excavated in 2006, showed a stratigraphic sequence that started with Final Neolithic and Early Minoan I. Carbonized wood, bones and big obsidian blades were found there. In Area A the same settlement-sequence was found, including Early Minoan gravel layers that probably displayed outside areas. In the western part of the section in Area G an Early Minoan wall was found. It had at least two construction phases and up to four strata that partly consisted of stucco. |
