Description In Late Neolithic I, the settlement expanded. There were organized court-groups. The houses were of better quality with thick walls (with stucco) and a differentiated ground plan with thicker external walls, narrow entrances and a complexly arranged interior. Also, they enclosed small courtyards. These changes indicate an isolation of households. There were human skeletal remains scattered in Late Neolithic layers (adults and children). Cultivated plants: intensive cultivation of wheat and barley; einkorn Pottery: the clay came from the nearer and farther vicinity of Knossos, was calcareous or lime-deficient and had a big variety in grogging material. Decorations: orange, red or dark-brown paintings, simple motifs, on beige ground; incised-pointillé, incised without pointillé; new forms: everted cups, bucket-like vessels, biconical bowls (straight-walled or offset rim). Obsidian: from Melos (Adamas and Demenegaki-deposit) Animal remains: sheep/goat; cattle (mainly female, for milk and as draft animals)
