| Description | A pit six to eight meters wide and a meter deep, cutting into the Neolithic occupation layers, was exposed. The two occupation layers in the pit clearly indicate that it was some sort of pit-dwelling or hut. Similiar dwellings with sunken floors existed in other parts of the mound. Although no coherent architecture was found, a piece of a floor belonging to the last phase of the Chalcolithic settlement (II.1) was uncovered. The flooring revealed that it had a clayey foundation of 3 cm in thickness with a nearly embedded layer of sherds. The coating of the floor consisted of mud plaster. Below the floor, in a pit-like deposit there were heaps of debris consisting of stones and pottery sherds belonging to the second level of the Chalcolithic period (II.2). |
