Description |
The cave of Hagios Charalambos is located at the western fringe of the Lasithi-Plateau, eastern of the village Hagios Charalambos, which was used to be called Gerontomouri. The cave is small and divided into seven compartments. While rooms 1-4 were excavated under the leadership of C. Davaras in 1976, 1982 and 1983, rooms 3, 4 and 5 as well as the passage between room 4 and 5, and areas outside of the cave, were cleaned and partly cleared in the campaigns of 2002 and 2003. Ceramics, obsidian and gold have been found; it has a time span from the Neolithic till the Middle Bronze Age. |
