Comment | Most of the obsidian comes from Sta Nychia, additional 6 % are from Giali. A reduction process can be proven, but tools were only produced sporadically. The cores were chipped bipolarly. The result were blades, flakes and a lot of chips. Broad blades of irregular shape of the back and the dorsal end were produced as well as regular prismatic pressure-blades (parallels in Nerokourou). The usage of metal tips for the production of flakes could be connected to this new technique. In the Final Neolithic obsidian tools were produced equally in- and outside of the building. |
