Description This site lies on recent marine sediments about 4 km inland from the shore (present; in the Neolithic it was situated on the shore). There was no long-lasting occupation (except traces of Roman settlements on the surface), but it was a more permanent structure like Gözlükule. Micro-environment around Yumuktepe: segments of fossil river beds eastern of the site are the former course of the Müftü Deresi (now flows on opposite side of mound). On the side of the former river, terrace buildings and roads were established down to the water level in all periods --> therefore heavily eroded; This site dates between ca. 7000 and 4500 cal. BC (PPNC to Middle Chalcolithic)
